"The Return" is the second episode of season 2 of Megas XLR.

Plot Summary[]

Coop and Jamie are enjoying a movie about a giant monster called "Buggra", even though Kiva comments that they have watched that movie 8 times in the same weekend. Kiva also comments that today is Sunday, the same day in which Coop must return the video to the video store. Jamie reminds Coop that he has already paid four late fees within the same month, so he needs to return the video before 5:30, lest his membership gets revoked.

Megas rushes to Vid-Hut, the store from which Coop rented the video, until it comes across another giant robot, who calls himself T-Bot. Coop attempts to dodge him, but he comes across Magnanimous, who has escaped from the quantum singularity Coop trapped into earlier and ever since, he has been trying to reconstruct his empire. He attempts to convince Coop into fighting T-Bot with the premise of defending his title as champion. If Coop refuses to fight, Magnanimous will have to revoke his title.

Wanting to avoid an unnecessary fight, Kiva attempts to convince Coop to relinquish the championship belt, but Coop refuses and, to further tempt Coop into fighting, Magnanimous summons a group of robots to defeat Megas and claim the belt, which is located at Coop's house. The fight begins and Coop is forced to defend his belt and himself from the multiple opponents wanting to become the new champion.

With great difficulty, Megas succeeds in defeating its opponents and Coop brags about no one being able to beat him. Magnanimous uses that as an opportunity to summon fighters from all over the galaxy and offers a reward of 500 million credits to whoever beats Megas and claims the belt. Megas barely defeats his opponents but suffers severe damage in the process. Then, Magnanimous enters the fight, piloting his own robot.

Kiva realizes that Magnanimous' real plan was to exact revenge on Coop, something that Magnanimous himself confirms. Despite Megas' damage, Coop barely defeats Magnanimous and reveals to all his fighters that there was never a reward for beating him, meaning that the fighters came to Earth for nothing. Angry at being deceived, the fighters turn against Magnanimous, who escapes by jumping into a wormhole, but not before promising to return.

With the battle over, the opponents Coop has fought chase after Magnanimous, while Coop returns the video to Vid-Hut just before the deadline. Coop wants to rent a new video and Kiva jokes that he should rent the same movie so they can watch it for the 9th time, a suggestion that Coop and Jamie happily accept.

End credits[]

Coop, Kiva, Jamie and one of the robots Megas had fought earlier watch Buggra in the broken remains of Coop's house.
